Overview

Lagan’s Foundation, a charity supporting families with children who have heart conditions and feeding issues, is offering an exciting opportunity to join their team as a PR and Communications Apprentice.

 

This apprenticeship is designed for individuals looking to start a career in public relations and communications, offering real-world experience and industry-led training. You will play a vital role in promoting the work of the charity, managing their communications, and contributing to the overall PR strategy while gaining valuable skills that will help you thrive in the world of public relations.

Working with Lagan’s Foundation means you’ll be part of a passionate and dedicated team committed to making a real difference in the lives of families facing challenging health conditions. Your work will directly contribute to increasing awareness, support, and donations for the charity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with creating and executing PR campaigns to raise awareness of Lagan's Foundation.
  • Support the management of their digital PR activities, including social media platforms.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets to secure coverage and grow their presence.
  • Participate in influencer marketing and outreach to enhance brand visibility.
  • Assist with reputation management and crisis communication strategies.
  • Track and report on PR campaigns and provide insights to the wider team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote Lagan’s Foundation’s events and initiatives.

Entry requirements

  • A-C (4-9) English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent
  • A passion for content and communication!
  • A driving licence and your own vehicle is essential

Training to be provided

The Juice Academy is an industry-led apprenticeship programme. They are partnered with Smoking Gun PR to deliver the Public Relations & Communications assistant Level 4. Apprentices work on the job within business whilst receiving 20% off the job training. The training is delivered by current industry professionals. The Juice Academy training sessions are face-to-face learning at Smoking Gun offices in Manchester city. Apprentices will also receive the on the job training in the workplace. The final three months of the course will be the ‘assessment period’ during which apprentices go through an End Point Assessment. The Juice Academy partner with Apprentify, who support apprentices in the workplace through development coaching.
The qualification will include:

Things to consider

Successful candidates will be invited to a second stage, where you will attend a virtual assessment session and complete maths and English assessments. If these results are successful, your application will be sent to the employer who will shortlist for interviews. If your interview is successful, you will be expected to start in the workplace in or before January. Please mark clearly on your application if you will be unavailable to start on this date and we will consider you for future selection days. *Please note: For the first year, you will be paid a minimum salary of £23,400.
