The apprentice’s very own Development Coach is a helpful aspect of our apprenticeship offering. They are available to track progress and provide support, including Maths and English skills or punctuality.

A Junior Content Producer Apprentice Learner Journey

A Junior Content Producer apprentice has quite the journey from when they first start with (possibly) very little skill, all the way to passing their endpoint assessment and having an index of knowledge.

Unit 1 - The Creative Industry
Unit 1 - The Creative Industry

During Unit 1, learners will begin their journey to understanding the new industry they have started their careers in. They will learn about the importance of the creative industry to the UK economy, and how to develop their skills and knowledge throughout their careers. They will also learn about the different work environments they may work within and the impact on their role. Finally, they will learn about basic project management techniques to use in their career. 

Unit 2 - The Brief
Unit 2 - The Brief

During Unit 2, learners will learn about the importance of effective creative briefs and how to interpret commercial objectives in a marketing brief. They will learn about different types of branding an organisation can utilise for marketing. Finally, they will learn about different market research methods and how to use them to discover insightful information for marketing purposes.

Unit 3 - Marketing Strategy
Unit 3 - Marketing Strategy

During Unit 3, learners will discover the different uses of print and digital media in marketing campaigns. They will understand the importance of the customer lifecycle in marketing campaigns and how to align different marketing activities to customers in different stages. Finally, they will learn about the Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned (PESO) model and how to apply this to marketing campaigns.

Unit 4 - Technical Marketing
Unit 4 - Technical Marketing

During Unit 4, learners will delve into the technical considerations of different content types including video, image and audio files. They will learn about the importance of metadata for content and how to organise content effectively. Finally, they will learn about cutting-edge content marketing and how this can be used in a variety of ways for their campaigns.

Unit 5 - Content Development
Unit 5 - Content Development

During Unit 5, learners will learn about the importance of tone of voice in marketing and how to develop an appropriate tone of voice for their business. They will develop customer personas for their own business which can then inform marketing strategies. Finally, they will design storyboards for a video campaign utilising the best practice for video production.

Unit 6 - Production Workflow
Unit 6 - Production Workflow

During Unit 6, learners will learn about the three stages of the production workflow and different activities in each stage. They will design call sheets for a video production campaign and learn about post-production considerations prior to sign-off. Finally, they'll learn about user experience and how to consider their users in the design of their content.

Unit 7 - Copy Creation
Unit 7 - Copy Creation

During Unit 7, learners will discover the main copywriting theories used by professional copywriters including AIDA, QUEST and WIIFM. They will learn about how to implement SEO best practices into blogs and articles. Finally, they'll learn about techniques to shorten their content to keep it concise and the importance of proofreading in the production process.

Unit 8 - Media Production
Unit 8 - Media Production

During Unit 8, learners will learn about the production process and considerations for a successful shoot. They will learn about different equipment required for different scenarios including cameras, microphones and extras required in certain circumstances. Finally, they will learn how to edit footage using professional software and utilise different cuts and editing techniques to achieve the required impact in their content.

Unit 9 - The Web
Unit 9 - The Web

During Unit 9, learners will begin to understand the importance of search engine optimisation for their content and how to optimise different content types for search engines. They will learn how to use CMS platforms for effective website management. Finally, they'll discover the importance of automation and scheduling tools in content management and how to adapt to them.

Unit 10 Data and Segmentation
Unit 10 Data and Segmentation

During Unit 10, learners will realise the impact of analytics tools for continuing improvement and optimisation of their content. They will learn about how to align their target segments with data for data-driven marketing decisions. Finally, they will learn how to use primary and secondary data sources to inform marketing campaigns.
