Assessment Centre

What will I be assessed on?

The assessment centre is nothing to fear! These sessions are quite simply made so we can meet you and get to know your skills. This way, we can help you find the right employer to match your needs. All these sessions are conducted over Zoom and all the tasks are designed to test your fundamental abilities, strengths and interests.

  1. Learn about apprenticeships

The first thing you will learn during your assessment centre session is what you are actually getting yourself into. Typically you will be informed on:

-Apprentify and our main points of contact

-What apprenticeships are and how they are funded

-What the apprenticeship standard is, EPA and how progress is tracked

-Learn why we test your maths and English skills

-Develop an understanding of the expectations and time commitment required

  2. Writing task

During your assessment session, you will be assigned a set amount of time to complete a writing task (usually in the form of a blog). You will be required to follow all the prompts provided and in the time constraints provided. Not only is this testing your functional English skills, it also gives us the opportunity to look at your time management skills and see how you react under a little pressure.

  3. Interview task

Following this, you will be asked to research an assigned company and conduct a verbal task. Then you will be split off into pairs to take turns interviewing each other. This not only lets you test your skills, but it also gives you experience in a “mock” interview. You will then have to provide feedback on your partner at the end.

  4. Analytical task

Finally, you will need to do an analytical task. You will be given some data from a website of which you will have to answer at least 8 questions; this will help us determine whether your capabilities suit the apprenticeship level. After this, you will also be asked to complete a “Skillscan”, which will assess you as a whole. It is important to be honest during this because we are not expecting a finished product and will be discussed with you at a later date.

How will this help me?

All tasks are designed to give us a clear picture of your fundamental abilities, strengths and interests. If you haven’t achieved at least a C/4 in your GCSE Maths and English Language, we’ll make sure your skills are up to scratch. Nailing the basics will make you more employable for the future. Even if you’ve had a job before, it’s a good idea to brush up on your skills to get work-ready and really impress potential employers.

Attending our Assessment Centre also means that if you don’t get a job offer straight away, we’ll put you on our Emerge programme. This is designed to build on the skills you already have while we work on finding the right employer for you.

Very good apprenticeship provider, great communication between business and students with staff that actually care.

The Digital Marketing course Apprentify offer is second to none. The use of Adobe Connect enables you to connect with others in the online classroom and allows you to feel comfortable speaking up if a concept needs explaining again. The way the course is run is thorough but maintains pace through quizzes, interactive activities and interactions with your class and tutor.

What are the costs of taking on an apprentice?

All apprenticeship programmes have their funding decided by the ESFA. Levy employers will have the cost deducted from their levy account. Non-levy employers will have 95% of the costs to be paid by the government, with you supplying the extra 5% as a co-investment fee. If your apprentice is between 16-18, there is no co-investment fee (100% funded).

Obviously, there is also the cost of the employee. Typically, we will not work with anyone paying under £12,000 annually.

How much do I have to pay an apprentice?

Typically, we do not work with anyone who pays under £12,000 a year. For reference, you can always look at our live Vacancies page to see what other employers are offering.

Does my apprentice have to be 16-18?

No, an apprentice can be any age nowadays as long as they are over 16. We work with apprentices who have just left school, all the way to those in their late twenties with work experience - Equally, we have a number of university graduates on the programme and even those older who are looking for a career change. Our candidates are all different ages with a wealth of different experiences.

Are they employed by my business?

Yes they are - they are on our apprenticeship training programme, but they are like any other employee with a work contract, and pension. In this respect, they are like any other employee.
