Birmingham Metropolitan College is a further and higher education college within Birmingham, England. The college was created in 2009 as an amalgamation of Matthew Boulton College and Sutton Coldfield College.

Apprentify are hiring on behalf of our client.

We are looking for a determined and keen individual to join our team as a Systems and Reporting Apprentice, studying on the Data Technician L3 Apprenticeship programme.

The MIS and Exams team at BMet oversees all administrative processes related to students’ academic journey—from enrolment to exams, results, and certification.  They manage student data, prepare funding claims for external bodies, and are structured into specialist teams to deliver targeted services to students and staff.  A key function of the directorate is producing cross-college reporting and systems solutions.

Main purpose:

To collaborate within a team to develop, implement, and continuously improve business systems and services across the College, employing software development techniques that involve extensive staff engagement.  To contribute technical expertise in developing, integrating, and maintaining efficient business systems as directed by line management, ensuring they deliver effective solutions.  Additionally, to provide analytical solutions and reporting to enable end users to interpret data effectively.

Key accountabilities:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating internal systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Support the creation and delivery of regular and ad-hoc reports for various departments and stakeholders.
  • Analyse data trends and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for improving system efficiency and reporting processes.
  • Participate in the testing and implementation of new system features or updates.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support for system-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organisational policies.

Entry requirements

Maths and English at Grade 4/C at GCSE level (Evidence required).

Clear and evidenceable interest in the technical field.

Training to be provided
