Yorkshire Business Systems Ltd offer complete IT support and computer services for small to medium sized businesses. Established in 2001, YBS has gained a solid reputation as a competitive, reliable and professional IT solutions company covering all aspects of IT.

From their office in Barnsley they aim to build quality relationships with their clients, understand their needs and provide businesses with a completely outsourced IT solution at the most competitive rates. Their services include offering everything from free advice and guidance through to full IT support including IT consultation, network design, network installation and infrastructure support, computer hardware supply and hardware maintenance, email and anti-virus solutions and secure remote working.

They are now looking for a passionate and enthusiastic ICT apprentice to join their team.

 

Key roles and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

• Travelling to clients to deliver quality ICT support
• Providing information and guidance on ICT matters
• Carrying out fault-finding and problem solving
• Managing security, storage and backup of systems
• Routine IT maintenance
• Disaster recovery and network maintenance

 

Desired skills:

• A full UK driving license and your own car are essential due to the nature of the role
• A passion for computers and ICT (previous qualification eg GCSE or A-level in ICT or related is preffered, or skills outside of school eg building computers, programming etc)
• Very strong communication and social skills, and confidence with communicating via phone
• Good English and maths skills
• Very enthusiastic with a desire to learn; not shy about getting stuck in

Entry requirements

• A passion for ICT and a desire to get into the industry
• Full UK driving license and own car (fuel miles will be covered by the company)
• GCSE maths and English grade C/ level 4 or above. ICT qualification preferred.

Training to be provided

Apprentify's ICT apprenticeship covers topics allowing apprentices to support organisations relying on computer and communication systems in all areas of their operations and decision-making processes.  As an ICT apprentice, you will develop skills and knowledge of the industry by learning key IT essentials such as fault finding and diagnostics, preventative measures, routine maintenance, system tools and testing.  You will also gain an awareness of cloud systems and physical and virtual network components including an awareness of security and firewalls, network architecture, protocols and principles of database migration.

Things to consider

£18,000 salary. Full time role based at the company's premises in Barnsley. This role will involve travelling to offer ICT support to clients around the Yorkshire area.

Future Prospects

Level 3 ICT Apprenticeship. Potential of a permanent role upon successful completion of the programme.
