Overview

As our Internal Communications & Engagement Apprentice, you’ll help deliver clear, engaging and intentional communications that connect colleagues to MAB’s culture, priorities and purpose.

Working closely with the Colleague Experience Business Partner, you’ll support the day-to-day running of internal communication channels and colleague engagement activity. You’ll learn how to plan communications, create content for different audiences, and measure impact as part of the Level 4 PR & Communications Assistant Apprenticeship.

You’ll also help bring MAB’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and internal brand to life - telling consistent stories about who we are, what we offer colleagues, and why MAB is a great place to grow a career. This includes supporting internal recruitment communications and supporting the Talent Acquisition Manager to attract and retain brilliant people.

What will you be doing?

Internal Communications

• Draft and publish internal comms across intranet/Chatter, newsletters, email, Teams and other channels.
• Keep internal content accurate, accessible, well-structured and aligned to tone of voice.
• Support comms planning calendars, chasing inputs from SMEs and tracking deadlines.

Engagement & Culture

• Support engagement and culture initiatives (values activity, recognition, awareness weeks, events).
• Help coordinate colleague listening activity (colleague surveys, focus groups) including comms and follow-ups.
• Gather and share colleague stories that celebrate success and reinforce “what great looks like.”

EVP & Internal Brand

• Support the evolution of the EVP/internal brand messaging across colleague channels.
• Create “day in the life”, testimonial, Q&A and spotlight content that showcases culture, careers and growth.
• Assist with simple internal brand assets (features, toolkits, slides, campaign materials) with guidance.

Talent Acquisition Communications Support

• Support the Talent Acquisition Manager on internal recruitment communications.
• Promote vacancies, referral campaigns, early-careers opportunities and career pathways internally.

Measurement & Improvement

• Track comms/engagement metrics (clicks, open rates, attendance, feedback).
• Help evaluate campaigns and suggest improvements.
• Maintain simple trackers and documentation for planning and reporting.

Entry requirements

You’ll enjoy this apprenticeship if you’re curious about communications and culture, and like making things clear, engaging and well-organised. We’re looking for someone who:

• Is interested in internal comms, colleague engagement, EVP/employer brand and storytelling.
• Writes well, spots details and cares about getting things right.
• Is organised, dependable and can juggle tasks with support.
• Enjoys working with people across the business and building good relationships.
• Is confident using Microsoft 365/Teams and keen to learn new tools.

Can share any experience from school/college, volunteering, work experience or personal projects (writing, content, events, social/digital)

Skills requirements

Training to be provided

You will complete the Level 4 Public Relations & Communications Assistant Apprenticeship, building skills in communication planning, content creation, channel management, stakeholder engagement and evaluation. You’ll produce real work outputs to evidence the apprenticeship duties and KSBs.
